Our Anaheim Kindergarten class is designed to offer an intensive educational environment by having a California credentialed kindergarten teacher instruct a classroom.  In addition, a portion of each day is supplemented by a Montessori trained teacher and the Montessori Method to get the best of both worlds. This enables the children to excel rapidly and provides an environment similar to what they will experience after leaving AmeriMont Academy’s kindergarten class. Our children take a state standardized test (CTBS) that computes their grade level equivalent in the subjects of reading, language, mathematics, science and social studies. This test is graded by an outside agency and compares their results with children throughout the state as well as the district we are in. Our families receive a copy of this report and many have utilized it to have their child placed in the advanced classes and some even skip first grade altogether!

To ensure the quality and fast pace, spaces are limited.

 Kindergarten Entry Expectations

At a minimum, our expectation for a child entering kindergarten is for them to be able to do the following:

General:

• Communicate well
• Have respect for others and materials
• A minimum of 5-10 minutes of individual work time (1:1 instruction)

Language:

• Letter recognition (lower and upper case)
• Sounds of all letters
• Able to recognize that putting sounds together will create a word
• Create 3 letter words with large moveable alphabet
• Color sight words (blue, yellow, black)
• Vowels A, E, I, O, U and Level 1 reading box

Writing:

• Student should be able to hold a pencil properly
• The student should be able to write their first and last name without help
• Concept of writing a letter from the top line to the bottom line

    

Math:

• Teen board
• Hundred board
• Color beads
• Number recognition (1-10 and teen numbers)
• Basic shapes

Sensorial:

• Binomial cube
• Trinomial cube

Practical Life:

• Holding a pair of scissors properly.
• Cutting on the line
• Gluing
• Coloring inside a line
